Seoul: A Seoul court on Friday acquitted former President Yoon Suk Yeol of charges of helping a former defense minister evade a criminal investigation by naming him ambassador to Australia in 2023. The verdict was delivered by the Seoul Central District Court, clearing Yoon of accusations related to aiding a criminal's flight and abuse of power.
According to Yonhap News Agency, special counsel Lee Myeong-hyeon had indicted Yoon on these charges and sought a five-year prison sentence. However, the court's decision has now exonerated the former president of any wrongdoing in this case.
