KoFIU and Tajikistan’s Financial Monitoring Department Unite Against Money Laundering

Seoul: The Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KoFIU) and its Tajikistani counterpart have formalized a partnership to enhance their efforts in combating money laundering. This collaboration was cemented through a memorandum of understanding that facilitates the exchange of financial information between the two entities, as announced by the Korean financial regulator.

According to Yonhap News Agency, KoFIU and the Financial Monitoring Department under the National Bank of Tajikistan have committed to strengthening their cooperation in order to tackle money laundering activities effectively. This agreement aims to improve the detection and analysis of suspicious capital flows, thereby supporting the broader anti-money laundering initiatives.

KoFIU operates under the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and is responsible for addressing money laundering, terrorism financing, and other unlawful financial operations. This new bilateral cooperation marks a significant step in international efforts to curb financial crimes.
