Nagoya: North Korean boxer Hwang Hyo-sun and table tennis player U Tae-ryong have been chosen as the flag bearers for their country at the opening ceremony of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, as announced by the organizers. The ceremony is set to take place at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Asian Games organizing committee released the list of flag bearers for the 46 participating nations, including a refugee team, scheduled to participate in the opening ceremony. Hwang Hyo-sun is set to compete in the women's 55-kilogram boxing event, while U Tae-ryong will take part in the men's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles table tennis events.
During the ceremony, North Korea, officially recognized as DPR Korea at the Asian Games, will make its entrance eighth in line, following China in alphabetical order. North Korea's contingent for the Games includes 107 athletes who will compete across 14 different sports. South Korea, under the name Korea, will enter the stadium as the 16th delegation, with the host country, Japan, making the final entrance.
