Nagoya: South Korea won gold in the men's modern pentathlon team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Sunday, successfully defending its title. In the fiercely contested event, South Korean athletes Jun Woong-tae, Lee Jong-hyeon, and Seo Chang-wan demonstrated exceptional skill and coordination, amassing a combined 4,779 points. The competition took place at Anjo Sports Park, located just southeast of Nagoya, Japan.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the men's modern pentathlon final included five challenging events: fencing, swimming, obstacle course racing, and laser run, a dynamic combination of running and shooting. This victory marks South Korea's second consecutive gold medal in the team event, following their previous triumph at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
In the team event, the combined scores of each country's top three athletes in the individual competition determined the medal standings. Jun Woong-tae finished in second place, Lee Jong-hyeon secured third, and Seo Chang-wan placed fifth. Their collective effort earned them a total of 4,779 points, surpassing China, who scored 4,768 points, and Kazakhstan, who finished with 4,647 points.
