Seoul:South Korea's Marine Corps chief departed for the Philippines on Sunday to explore avenues for enhancing military and defense industry cooperation between the two nations.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lt. Gen. Ju Il-suk is scheduled to meet with Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. and Bayani V. Curaming, the deputy commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps, during his visit, which will continue until Wednesday.
The discussions will focus on strengthening coordination between the two marine corps and expanding defense industry cooperation. Lt. Gen. Ju will also pay tribute to Philippine soldiers who fought alongside South Korean troops during the 1950-53 Korean War by visiting a Korean War memorial.
