According to Yonhap News Agency, Eom stressed that overconfidence could derail South Korea's quest for victory. He made his remarks in a video released by the Korea Football Association during the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The South Korean under-23 team, led by coach Lee Min-sung, is aiming for a fourth consecutive gold medal in men's football. The match against China is scheduled for Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Nagai Stadium in Osaka, located 140 kilometers west of Nagoya.
South Korea has enjoyed a successful tournament so far, beginning with a 4-1 victory over Qatar, driven by a hat trick from Eom. The team then secured a 2-0 win against Saudi Arabia to top Group D and continued their dominance with a 4-0 quarterfinal win over Vietnam.
Eom noted the positive atmosphere in training following these victories and highlighted the team's strong offensive performance. He acknowledged the challenge posed by China, stating that reaching the semifinals indicates their capability. Eom emphasized the need for the team to remain vigilant and execute their plays effectively.
