Goheung:Preparations for the fifth launch of South Korea's homegrown Nuri rocket are on track, according to the head of the country's space agency.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Oh Tae-seok, the administrator of the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA), assured that preparations are proceeding smoothly ahead of the scheduled launch on October 7. This event is set to take place at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, located approximately 473 kilometers south of Seoul.
The Nuri rocket is tasked with carrying 15 satellites, including five that will contribute to South Korea's first domestically launched microsatellite constellation. The primary payload consists of five New-space Earth Observation Satellite Constellations for National Safety (NEONSAT), while the secondary payload includes 10 CubeSats.
Oh highlighted the importance of accurately deploying all 15 satellites into their designated orbits as a significant challenge. He emphasized that developing expertise in launching satellites into different orbits is crucial for advancing commercial launch services.
Earlier, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute released footage showing the assembly of the rocket's three stages at the Naro Space Center.
