According to Yonhap News Agency, Faker expressed hope that children find a passion to pursue but cautioned against excessive gaming. Speaking at Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, where South Korea triumphed over Chinese Taipei 3-0, he emphasized the importance of self-control and open communication with parents to maintain healthy gaming habits.
Esports was introduced as a demonstration sport in the 2018 Asian Games and became an official event in 2023 in Hangzhou, China, where South Korea secured its first official gold medal in League of Legends. Faker, celebrated in China for his gaming prowess, acknowledged the contributions of his teammates to their success, despite not playing in the final match himself.
Faker expressed pride in the team's achievement and highlighted the perseverance shown by his teammates against early challenges from Chinese Taipei. He noted the importance of teamwork and the inspiration drawn by fans from their victory.
Kim Geon-woo, or Zeka, filled the mid laner role in the final and credited Faker for providing valuable guidance. Another team member, Choi Woo-je, or Zeus, expressed a desire to achieve a third consecutive gold medal in future games.
Faker mentioned that the team relied on convenience store food during the competition and planned to celebrate their victory with a team dinner. When asked about covering the dinner expenses, Faker, known for his success and wealth in esports, responded with a smile and "No comment."
