Jeju:A fishing boat with 11 people on board capsized in waters off the southern resort island of Jeju on Monday, resulting in nine people being rescued while two others remain missing.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the incident occurred when the 29-ton coastal longline fishing boat overturned about 65 kilometers northwest of Chagwi Island at 3:04 a.m. The Jeju Coast Guard reported that nearby fishing boats managed to rescue nine foreign crew members, including eight Indonesians and one Vietnamese, all of whom are currently in stable condition.
The two missing individuals are identified as the South Korean captain and one Indonesian crew member. Authorities have deployed helicopters and patrol vessels to carry out search and rescue efforts. A Navy vessel and several civilian fishing boats are also participating in the operation.
The cause of the accident has yet to be determined.
