Seoul Shares Plunge Amid U.S. Market Losses and Inflation Worries

Seoul:Shares in Seoul opened sharply lower on Tuesday, influenced by losses in U.S. technology stocks. This decline has affected investor sentiment as they anticipate earnings reports from major companies and the upcoming release of U.S. inflation data.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Korea Composite Stock Price Index dropped 198.16 points, or 3.1 percent, reaching 6,186.08 at the start of trading.

The mixed performance of U.S. stocks overnight saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average rise by 0.38 percent, while the Nasdaq Composite, heavily weighted with technology stocks, fell by 0.44 percent. Investors are closely watching the U.S. consumer price index report, expected on Wednesday, which may provide insights into the Federal Reserve's policy decisions ahead of its October meeting.
