Tunis:North Korea has inaugurated a new defense museum exhibiting a diverse array of weaponry, including its latest intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). The event was attended by leader Kim Jong-un, as reported by state media on Tuesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the opening ceremony of the National Defense Revolution Museum took place on Sunday, coinciding with the 81st founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), celebrated on October 10.
During the event, Kim Jong-un, accompanied by the party's central leadership and key figures from the national defense ministry, explored the museum. His wife and daughter, Ju-ae, were also in attendance. Kim described the museum as a "revolutionary treasure" unique to the WPK and a "precious monument" achievable only by a state and its people with the strength to defend themselves.
The North Korean leader underscored the obligation of the WPK to advance the defense industry to become the most formidable globally. He highlighted that the development of the country's "juche-based weaponry" would continue alongside the expansion of the museum. Juche, meaning self-reliance, is the core ideology of the North Korean regime.
State media photos revealed various military equipment on display, from personal combat gear to drones and missiles. Notable exhibits included the Hwasong-20 ICBM under development, a new submarine-launched ballistic missile, and 600-millimeter super-large multiple rocket launchers.
