Special Counsel Raids National Election Commission for Alleged Bid Rigging

Baku:A special counsel team raided the National Election Commission (NEC) over suspicions of bid rigging involving approximately 5 billion won (US$3.7 million) worth of election supplies.

According to Yonhap News Agency, special counsel Lee Tae-han's team dispatched investigators to the NEC's office and four other locations, including companies providing election supplies, to search for and seize evidence related to the allegations.

The team has reportedly found indications of alleged collusion between the NEC and the companies concerning supplies for polling stations used in last year's presidential election and the local elections in June. The investigation, launched last month, is also examining ballot shortages reported nationwide during the June 3 local elections, alongside other alleged misconduct by the election watchdog.
