Seoul:The LG Twins emerged victorious against the Doosan Bears with a 4-1 win to clinch the wild card spot in the South Korean baseball postseason. The game, held at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, saw Austin Dean hit a two-run home run, while starter Carlos Carrasco delivered a strong performance, pitching six innings and allowing only one run.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Twins, who were the fourth seed in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) regular season, needed just a tie or win to advance. The Bears, as the fifth seed, faced the challenge of having to win two consecutive games but fell short despite a commendable effort by starter Gwak Been, who struck out 10 batters over six innings. Gwak's only significant setback was Dean's home run in the first inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Bears managed to score one run after loading the bases but left two runners stranded in the eighth. The Twins added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth, securing their victory and setting the stage for a series against the third-seed Kia Tigers. This best-of-five series will begin on Saturday in Gwangju.
Carlos Carrasco, making his KBO postseason debut, impressed by allowing just four hits and striking out three batters.
