Manila:The prime minister's office has denied a report suggesting that some government members have expressed concerns about the live broadcasts of Cabinet meetings, claiming it makes it difficult to challenge the president's statements.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Hankook Ilbo daily reported that approximately 10 ministers voiced these complaints during a dinner meeting with Prime Minister Han Seong-sook earlier this month. They reportedly requested a reduction in the live broadcasting to facilitate more open policy discussions.
The prime minister's office dismissed this report, emphasizing that the government is broadcasting Cabinet meeting discussions live for the first time in history. This initiative aims to ensure transparency in state affairs and incorporate public opinion into government policy. The office further stated that Cabinet members are freely expressing their views during meetings, and the president is actively considering these inputs.
