Samsung Lions’ Koo Ja-wook Resumes Training Ahead of KBO Postseason

Manila:The Samsung Lions announced that their All-Star outfielder, Koo Ja-wook, has resumed training following a hamstring injury. Koo, who clinched his first career batting title with a .371 average, has been out since September 30 due to the injury.

According to Yonhap News Agency, recent tests revealed that the internal bleeding and swelling in Koo's left hamstring have significantly subsided. This development has allowed the team captain to begin hitting off the tee and engage in light exercises like using a stationary bike and light running.

While Koo is making progress, the Lions emphasized that he will not be pushed into high-intensity baserunning or fielding drills at this stage. Despite initial concerns about his availability, Koo is anticipated to be ready to participate as a designated hitter when the Lions enter the postseason on October 25.

The Lions secured a bye to the second round of the playoffs by finishing second in the regular season standings. They are set to face the winner of the first-round series between the Kia Tigers and the LG Twins, which commences this Saturday.
