Seoul:U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Michelle Steel has emphasized the importance of South Korean investment in bolstering the U.S. economy and generating American jobs. She expressed optimism about the potential for increased economic collaboration between the two nations.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Steel's comments were shared in a post on X after she participated in a plenary meeting of the U.S.-Korea and Korea-U.S. Business Council. The event was hosted by the Federation of Korean Industries.
Steel highlighted that South Korean investment plays a vital role in reinforcing the U.S. economy, supporting American employment, and enhancing commercial ties between the two countries. She conveyed her anticipation for furthering this progress and creating more opportunities for mutual investment and growth.
Her statements reflect Washington's focus on attracting South Korean investment, following a joint announcement by Seoul and Washington detailing South Korea's planned $200 billion investment in the U.S. This is part of a wider $350 billion commitment, which is linked to reduced U.S. tariffs on South Korean products.
