Seoul:A global event focused on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation in promoting development began its three-day session in Seoul on Monday, as announced by the science ministry.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Global AI and Digital Summit is co-hosted by the South Korean science ministry and the World Bank Group. It has gathered government officials from approximately 50 countries, along with development partners, private sector leaders, and researchers. This marks the first time the summit is being held outside the United States.
The event features an AI and Digital Ministerial meeting co-chaired by Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon and Kim Sang-bu, Vice President for Digital and AI at the World Bank Group. This will be followed by policy forums and exhibitions presented by participating companies.
Since 2005, South Korea has been organizing the AI and digital ministerial meetings, with last year's meeting taking place alongside the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum. On Monday, Second Vice Science Minister Ryu Jae-myung is set to present Seoul's key AI policies, including the ministry's "AI for all" initiative designed to make AI services accessible to everyone.
