Seoul:President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating has risen to 37.3 percent following two weeks of decline, as revealed by a recent survey.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the poll conducted by Realmeter surveyed 2,520 adults nationwide from last Monday to Friday. It showed a 2.1 percentage point increase in positive assessments of Lee's job performance from the previous week. Meanwhile, negative assessments decreased by 1 percentage point to 60.4 percent.
Realmeter attributed the rebound in approval rating to policies aimed at improving citizens' livelihoods, particularly in housing and employment, along with the government's response to violent crimes after a stabbing incident in Incheon. However, a significant stock market decline later in the week may have negatively impacted Lee's ratings.
In a related survey conducted on 1,005 adults between Thursday and Friday, support for the ruling Democratic Party increased by 0.7 percentage points to 36.2 percent, while support for the main opposition People Power Party fell by 0.4 percentage points to 40.9 percent. The margin of error for the presidential survey was 2 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level, and 3.1 percentage points for the political party survey.
Both surveys were commissioned by the Asia Business Daily.
