Korean Air Conducts Successful UAM Operations Test Near Incheon

Accra:Incheon Korean Air Co. announced on Wednesday that it has successfully tested urban air mobility (UAM) operations on island routes off South Korea's west coast, marking an important step toward expanding this technology beyond major population centers.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the demonstration took place on Tuesday using a surrogate aircraft. This operation was conducted in collaboration with KT Corp., Hyundai Motor Co., and Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co., near the western port city of Incheon.

Korean Air implemented its in-house Air Control and Routing Orchestrated Skyway System (ACROSS) to manage flight operations and air traffic, putting the system's capabilities to the test in an island environment. The airline aims to complete the first phase of Incheon’s UAM control system project by December, as part of its initiative to develop traffic management and flight operation systems for future air taxi services.
