Accra:Seoul President Lee Jae Myung on Wednesday emphasized the urgent need for police reform to eliminate wrongful practices and systems within the force, highlighting the necessity for an independent system to assess police investigations.
According to Yonhap News Agency, President Lee made these remarks during a speech commemorating the 81st Police Day. His call comes as the police have gained more investigative authority following his administration's prosecution reform, which has limited prosecutors' roles to handling indictments and their maintenance.
The President urged the police to objectively evaluate their past shortcomings and pursue bold reforms to rectify existing issues within their practices and systems.
