Seoul:A civic group has officially lodged a complaint with the police against South Korea's Agriculture Minister Song Mi-ryung, citing concerns over the government's ongoing farmland survey. The complaint accuses the minister of abusing her power in the execution of this survey.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency received the complaint from the People's Welfare Countermeasure Committee on Sunday. The group alleges that Minister Song proceeded with the survey without adequately consulting farmers, thereby causing distress within the farming community.
The government initiated the comprehensive nationwide survey earlier this year, aiming to establish the actual ownership of farmland and to prevent its use as a speculative asset. However, the initiative has faced criticism, with detractors arguing that it may infringe on farmers' property rights.
