Daegu:Ariel Jurado of the Samsung Lions clinched his first Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postseason victory by leading his team to an 8-3 win over the Kia Tigers on Tuesday night at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Jurado, a Panamanian pitcher, allowed only two runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings. This achievement marked a turnaround for Jurado, who had a 0-3 record and a 4.29 ERA in his previous postseason appearances.
The Lions, with this win, evened their best-of-five series at one game each. During the game, Jurado showed remarkable control, with his efforts backed by a strong offensive performance from his teammates. The Lions scored four runs in the third inning, including a two-run homer by Lewin Diaz, which set the tone for the rest of the game.
Jurado retired ten consecutive batters in an impressive stretch and needed only 12 pitches to retire the side in both the fourth and sixth innings. Despite a brief struggle in the seventh inning, where a wild pitch allowed a second run for the Tigers, Jurado managed to maintain the Lions' lead before leaving the mound.
This game marked a significant milestone in Jurado's career, demonstrating his ability to adapt and succeed in postseason play, helping the Lions remain competitive in the series.
