Incheon:A check-in system malfunction at Incheon International Airport was fully resolved by Friday afternoon, causing significant delays in passenger processing throughout the day, the airport operator confirmed.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the malfunction began at 430 a.m. and affected an airline network connecting ticketing systems at the airport, leading to intermittent connectivity issues for eight airlines at Terminal 1 and five airlines at Terminal 2. By the afternoon, ticketing operations were effectively halted for China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and Air China. However, the airport later reported that ticketing had resumed for all three airlines.
The malfunction resulted in long lines at check-in counters, with some passengers expressing frustration over the lack of communication from airlines regarding expected recovery times as their departure times approached. As of 5 p.m., a total of 38 flights were delayed, leaving approximately 1,200 travelers stranded at the airport.
The airport operator attributed the disruption to a glitch in the global network of American aviation service provider ARINC.
