LG Twins Sign Former MLB Pitcher Tristan Beck to One-Year Deal

Seoul:The LG Twins have announced the signing of former Major League Baseball pitcher Tristan Beck. The 2025 Korean Series champions revealed that Beck, aged 30, has agreed to a one-year contract valued at $878,000. The deal includes a salary of $578,000 and a signing bonus of $300,000.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Beck was originally a fourth-round pick by the Atlanta Braves in the 2018 MLB draft before being traded to the San Francisco Giants in 2019. He debuted in the MLB with the Giants in 2023, where he participated in 85 games, including five starts, and achieved a record of 5-3 with five saves and a 4.08 ERA over 176 2/3 innings. This year, Beck made 14 appearances for the Giants and 28 in Triple-A, posting a 3-1 record with a 4.54 ERA over 39 2/3 innings.

Beck, who has a five-pitch repertoire including a four-seam fastball, sweeper, slider, curveball, and changeup, expressed his eagerness to return to a starting pitcher role. He noted that his versatility in pitching roles has been a valuable experience throughout his career. "I think one of the big opportunities I was looking for was to be able to try to be a starting pitcher again and to just get out here and face some really good competition," Beck stated in an interview on the Twins' YouTube page.

The LG Twins are considering further changes to their pitching lineup for the upcoming 2027 season. They currently have Anders Tolhurst and Carlos Carrasco as their foreign pitchers, with Australian Jon Kennedy fulfilling the Asian quota. The Twins hinted at the possibility of signing another foreign pitcher and potentially replacing both Tolhurst and Carrasco. The team praised Beck's ability to mix pitches and his extensive experience in various pitching roles in the United States, expecting him to adapt well to the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO).
