Seoul: The state arms procurement agency announced on Wednesday the completion of a significant project aimed at upgrading the simulators used for training pilots of the Army's UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) initiated the upgrades due to ongoing performance issues and rising maintenance costs associated with the aging simulators, which were initially deployed in 2000 and 2008. The enhancements incorporate 3D technology to provide a more immersive and realistic training environment. This technology enables pilots to practice various scenarios, including enemy engagements, challenging weather conditions, and aircraft malfunctions.
South Korea's military currently operates over 100 Black Hawk helicopters, which are developed by the U.S. aerospace company Sikorsky Aircraft.
