Seoul:Police have filed for an arrest warrant for a man accused of killing his mother-in-law and kidnapping his wife, amid an ongoing marriage annulment suit.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Seoul Songpa Police Station, located in eastern Seoul, submitted the warrant to a local court. This action follows the arrest of the suspect, who is in his 20s, after he had been evading authorities.
The man allegedly stabbed his mother-in-law to death in Seoul's Songpa district and then kidnapped his wife on Sunday. Prior to this incident, he had been under investigation since August for domestic violence against his wife. The couple was also involved in a legal process to annul their marriage.
While the suspect has admitted to killing his mother-in-law, he disputes claims that the act was premeditated. He maintains that his intention was to persuade his wife to reconsider their relationship.
