BLACKPINK Nears Contract Renewal with YG Entertainment for Group Activities

Seoul – Renowned K-pop girl group BLACKPINK is reportedly close to extending its group activities with YG Entertainment. The group, consisting of Rose, Lisa, Jisoo, and Jennie, is in the final stages of negotiating contract renewals with the agency.

According to Yonhap News Agency, While the renewal of the group's contracts for collective activities seems likely, the status of their individual management contracts with YG remains uncertain. "Nothing has been decided," YG Entertainment stated, noting ongoing negotiations. The company had previously announced it would disclose any agreement reached.

BLACKPINK's influence on YG Entertainment's sales is substantial, making the contract renewal process a point of keen interest. The group, which debuted in 2016, had their initial seven-year contracts with YG expire in August 2022. Despite this, a decision regarding the renewal has not yet been finalized.

Speculation in local media suggests that BLACKPINK's stature as the world's biggest girl group may present challenges in renewing the contracts. Amid rumors of only Rose remaining with YG while the other members potentially leave, YG Entertainment's stock prices experienced a significant drop, falling by 13 percent at one point.
