SEOUL, - K-pop stars BTS' Jimin and girl group NewJeans have each secured four nominations for the upcoming 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).

According to a new release by Yonhap News Agency, Jimin is a finalist in four categories: Top Selling Song for "Like Crazy," Top Global K-Pop Artist, Top K-Pop Album for "Face," and Top Global K-Pop Song for "Like Crazy." NewJeans has also been nominated in four categories across five entries: Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist, Top Global K-Pop Artist, Top K-Pop Album for "Get Up," and Top Global K-Pop Song for both "Ditto" and "OMG."

Other K-pop acts have also been recognized. Girl group TWICE has been nominated for three awards, while boy groups Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together are finalists in two categories each. Rookie group Fifty Fifty, currently on hiatus due to a contract dispute, is nominated for Top Duo/Group and Top Global K-Pop Song for "Cupid." Additionally, girl group BLACKPINK, along with BTS' Suga and Jungkook, each have one nomination: Top K-Pop Touring Artist and Top Global K-Pop Song for "Seven (feat. Latto)," respectively.

The BBMAs are one of the American music industry's major awards shows, alongside the American Music Awards and the Grammy Awards. This year, the BBMAs have introduced four new K-pop categories, capturing a broader scope of artists from the industry. Among the K-pop artists, only Jimin, NewJeans, and Fifty Fifty have been nominated in categories that are not exclusively K-pop.

In the 2022 BBMAs, BTS received three awards: Top Duo/Group, Top Selling Song Sales Artist, and Top Selling Song. The 2023 edition of the awards will be livestreamed on Billboard's official social media channels on November 19.
