London: K-pop supergroup BTS' extensive cultural program "The City" is set to take place in London next month, in conjunction with their ongoing world tour. The group's agency announced that the event will coincide with the band's "Arirang" world tour concerts scheduled for July 6-7 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the offline event, titled "BTS The City Arirang London," will begin on July 6, marking the first day of the London performances. The festivities will commence with lighting installations, including the illumination of the London Eye in a vivid red, symbolic of the "Arirang" tour. Additionally, a large floating boat with a sculpture featuring the "Arirang" logo will make its way along the River Thames.
Following the concerts, a BTS-themed media art exhibition will take place from July 8 to 10 at Outernet London, a venue dedicated to arts, music, and culture. The exhibition will showcase visuals from "Arirang" on its extensive digital LED canvases, creating an immersive audiovisual atmosphere for attendees.
Other activities planned for "The City" include an "8-stop stamp rally," encouraging participants to visit key London landmarks to complete missions and gather stamps. The project originally debuted during the "Permission to Dance on Stage" tour in Las Vegas in 2022, where it aimed to enhance the festive spirit by illuminating major landmarks in purple, the signature color of BTS' global fandom, ARMY.
This year, "The City" project has already been featured in Seoul, Las Vegas, and Busan, aligning with the group's tour stops and offering fans engaging cultural experiences throughout the host cities.
