Tokyo: After a commanding 14-0 victory over Czechia in the World Baseball Classic (WBC), Chinese Taipei manager Tseng Hao-Jiu quickly shifted focus to a decisive match against South Korea. The final game of Pool C is set to determine Chinese Taipei's fate in the competition.
According to Yonhap News Agency, despite initial setbacks with two scoreless defeats, Chinese Taipei's offense showed a remarkable turnaround at Tokyo Dome. Manager Tseng expressed his desire for a repeat performance in the crucial showdown against South Korea. "Tomorrow's game is another elimination game for us and we have to win to stay alive," Tseng stated, emphasizing the readiness of his entire roster for the encounter.
Tseng has already made a decision on the starting pitcher but chose not to disclose the name. He emphasized the importance of preparation, citing the team's success against Czechia as a model for the upcoming game. The stakes are high as a loss to South Korea would eliminate Chinese Taipei from the competition.
South Korea, which opened the tournament with an 11-4 victory over Czechia and had a day off on Friday, is set to face Japan later on Saturday. The top two teams from Pool C will advance to the quarterfinals, adding further pressure to the impending clash between Chinese Taipei and South Korea.
