Buan: Acting President Choi Sang-mok on Thursday ordered officials to mobilize all available resources to assist in the rescue efforts after a fishing boat caught fire in waters off the southwestern coast.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Coast Guard reported that at approximately 8:39 a.m., the 34-ton fishing vessel carrying 11 crew members caught fire in waters near Buan, 204 kilometers southwest of Seoul. “Deploy all available resources, including fishing and commercial vessels, to prioritize the rescue of human lives,” Choi said.
The Coast Guard confirmed that five people have been rescued so far.
