Disney+ to Premiere Korean Original Series ‘Uncle Samsik’ Starring Song Kang-ho

SEOUL — Disney+ announced that "Uncle Samsik," a highly awaited original Korean series featuring Song Kang-ho, will make its debut on May 15. Song Kang-ho, known for his memorable role in the Academy Award-winning movie "Parasite," will be making his television series debut. Set in the 1960s, the series narrates the story of Uncle Samsik (played by Song), who is committed to providing daily meals for his family, and Kim San (played by Byun Yo-han), a young elite with ambitions of national reform.

According to Yonhap News Agency, The reveal of the series' poster on Tuesday shows Song Kang-ho smiling broadly, balancing a pack of savory snacks and a fresh catch, accompanied by the tagline "You can open up when you feel full." This 16-episode period drama is directed and written by Shin Yeon-shick, recognized for his work on "Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet" (2016) and "Cobweb" (2023), promising a blend of heartfelt storytelling and historical narrative.
