Doosan Enerbility Secures $664 Million Power Plant Contract in Vietnam

Hanoi: Doosan Enerbility Co., a major South Korean plant builder, announced it has secured a 900 billion-won (US$664 million) contract to construct a combined cycle power plant in Vietnam by 2028. The project aims to enhance energy supply in the region.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Doosan Enerbility has teamed up with local plant engineering firm PECC2 to build the 1,155-megawatt power plant for Vietnam’s state-run PetroVietnam (PVN) in Can Tho. This location is situated 180 kilometers southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. The new O Mon 4 plant is expected to support electricity supply in Can Tho and other southern parts of Vietnam.

Doosan Enerbility has expressed intentions to secure more power plant contracts in Vietnam. The Vietnamese government plans to develop combined cycle power facilities with a total capacity of 37.4 gigawatts (GW) by 2030. This strategy presents further opportunities for the company in the region.

With the latest contract, Doosan Enerbility has successfully secured five combined cycle power plant projects this year, with a total value of 4.3 trillion won.
