Seoul: K-pop singer Evan is set to release his debut solo EP, "Death of Me," on Monday, marking a new beginning after parting ways with the boy group Enhypen. The EP, slated for release at 6 p.m., consists of eight tracks and represents the artist's first solo endeavor under the name Evan, previously known as Heeseung.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Evan left Enhypen in March to embark on an independent musical journey while remaining with Belift Lab. Three months following his departure, he reemerged on the music scene under his childhood nickname, Evan, with the digital single "Ride or Die." During a media showcase in Seoul, Evan addressed the mixed feelings among fans regarding his exit from the group. He expressed gratitude for the support and explained that the decision to pursue a solo career was made after careful consideration, acknowledging the disappointment it might have caused.
Evan emphasized his commitment to producing sincere music, having taken an active role in the production of the EP. He was involved in composing and writing lyrics for nearly all the tracks, aiming to infuse the album with personal and authentic stories. Describing the EP as a "mirror," Evan noted that it serves as a reflection of his innermost thoughts and aspirations.
The EP is led by the pop-R and B title track "Death of Me," and includes previously released single "Ride or Die," along with B-sides "Not Enough," "Noise," "Twilight," "Immature," "Overflow," and "Going Home." In the days leading up to the release, Evan shared for the first time his childhood battle with pediatric cancer, recounting how the experience shaped his life and perspective.
Evan expressed a desire to offer hope and comfort to others facing similar struggles, stating that sharing his story through music is an important aspect of his artistic mission. He aims to inspire and provide strength to people confronting challenges through his performances and music.
