Seoul: Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and Bank of Korea Governor Rhee Chang-yong engaged in a virtual meeting with the heads of South Korea’s financial watchdogs to deliberate on U.S. tariffs and their potential market implications, as reported by the finance ministry.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the virtual meeting occurred while Choi and Rhee were in Washington for a seasonal conference hosted by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The discussions were timely, aligning with Choi’s visit to the U.S. for “two-plus-two” trade negotiations with American counterparts.
The meeting also included participation from Kim Byoung-hwan, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, and Lee Bok-hy. The discussions underscored the importance of international economic policies and their influence on South Korea’s financial landscape.
