Daejeon: A fire broke out at a car parts plant in the central city of Daejeon, injuring at least 50 people, including 35 with serious injuries, authorities said. The incident occurred on Friday and has prompted a significant emergency response.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the fire was reported at around 1:17 p.m., leading the National Fire Agency to issue a national firefighting mobilization order. This order is typically given when the fire's scale is beyond the local government's firefighting capacity.
Prime Minister Kim Min-seok provided emergency instructions to the interior ministry and the fire agency, emphasizing the need to use all available equipment and personnel to rescue people and extinguish the fire. His office also indicated that he instructed the Daejeon metropolitan government and the police to implement traffic control and evacuation measures to prevent further damage.
