Former South Korean Weightlifter Jeon Sang-guen to Receive 2012 Olympic Bronze

SEOUL - Former South Korean weightlifter Jeon Sang-guen is set to receive a belated bronze medal from the 2012 London Olympics this August in Paris. The Korea Weightlifting Federation (KWF) confirmed that Jeon will be awarded the medal in the men's +105 kilograms category during the upcoming Olympic events.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Jeon's medal comes after the disqualification of Russian athlete Ruslan Albegov for doping, leading to the reallocation of the bronze medal by the International Olympic Committee in March. Jeon, who originally finished fourth at the London Games with a lift of 436 kilograms, will receive his medal twelve years after the competition. This correction is part of a broader reassessment of Olympic results following doping violations that also affected other South Korean athletes, including Jang Mi-ran in the women's +75kg event and Kim Min-jae in the men's 94kg category, who have had their positions upgraded in the official Olympic records.
