Seoul: GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of General Motors Co., reported on Monday a decline in its sales for May, attributed to weak demand both domestically and internationally.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the company sold a total of 47,081 vehicles in May, marking a 5.9 percent decrease compared to the same month last year. This decline is reflected in both export and domestic markets.
Exports saw a contraction of 4.8 percent year-on-year, with 46,273 units shipped in May. Meanwhile, domestic sales experienced a sharper drop, plunging 42.6 percent to 808 units.
The Chevrolet Trax Crossover SUV was the top performer in overseas markets, with 28,988 units sold. It was followed by the Trailblazer compact SUV, which recorded sales of 16,275 units.
