Ha Jee-min Secures South Korea’s First Sailing Gold at 2026 Asian Games

Gamagori:South Korea's Ha Jee-min claimed his fourth Asian Games medal in men's sailing by finishing first in the men's dinghy event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held at Kaiyoh Yacht Harbor.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this triumph marks Ha's fourth gold medal in the event, adding to his victories in the 2010, 2014, and 2018 editions of the games. He also won a silver medal in 2022. This gold medal represents South Korea's first in sailing at the current competition.

The silver medal was awarded to Halliday Nicholas Bezy from Hong Kong, while Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy from Malaysia took home the bronze. In the dinghy event, sailors accumulate points based on their finishing positions in each race of the opening series. The top 10 sailors with the lowest scores advance to a two-race final, with their worst race score being excluded.

Ha Jee-min led the leaderboard after the opening series, advancing to the final where he finished third in the first race and sixth in the second. He accumulated a total of nine points without any penalty points. Halliday Nicholas Bezy finished first and third in the final races, scoring 11 points with seven penalty points.
