HD Hyundai Heavy Secures $424 Million Power Equipment Order in U.S.

Seoul: HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, a leader in South Korea's shipbuilding industry, announced on Wednesday the acquisition of a significant contract valued at 627 billion won (approximately US$424 million) to provide power generation equipment to a U.S.-based energy infrastructure firm.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the equipment will feature HD Hyundai's HiMSEN engine-based system, designed to deliver a total capacity of 684 megawatts. This advanced system is set to be installed at a data center operated by Aperion Energy Group (AEG). This order marks the largest contract by value for HD Hyundai in the power generation equipment sector and is notably its inaugural deal in the United States.

The HiMSEN engine is recognized for its high output and efficiency, as well as its quick start-up and stable load response capabilities. These features make it particularly suitable for data centers that demand continuous 24-hour operation. A company official highlighted the strategic importance of this contract, stating that it will serve as a vital foundation for expanding into the U.S. data center market. HD Hyundai plans to explore additional opportunities in both the data center and power generation sectors.
