Seoul: HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) Co. announced Tuesday that it has secured a 458.8 billion-won (US$312 million) contract from an Asian shipping company for the construction of two ethane carriers. These vessels will be constructed at the Ulsan shipyard of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., with a scheduled delivery by December 2028.
According to Yonhap News Agency, HD KSOE operates as a subholding company under HD Hyundai, previously known as Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings. HD KSOE encompasses three affiliates: HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., and HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co.
With this recent contract, HD KSOE has secured orders for a total of 21 vessels valued at $3.58 billion in the current year. This achievement represents 19.8 percent of the company's annual order target of $18.05 billion.
