Health Minister Confirms Continuation of Medical Reforms Post-Election Setback

SEOUL: Following significant electoral losses, Health Minister Cho Kyoo-hong announced on Thursday that the government will continue to push forward with medical reform plans.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the announcement came amid a prolonged walkout by trainee doctors protesting the proposed increase in medical student enrollment. The minister emphasized the necessity of the reforms for ensuring the sustainability of healthcare services and addressing future needs. Despite the political challenges, the government remains dedicated to modifying healthcare policies and increasing physician assistant roles to compensate for doctor shortages.
