Hyundai and Kia Report 9.3% Increase in European Sales Driven by SUV and EV Models

SEOUL - Hyundai Motor Co. and its affiliate Kia Corp. experienced a significant 9.3 percent increase in vehicle sales in Europe last month, propelled by robust demand for their SUV and electric vehicle models.

According to Yonhap News Agency, The two companies, citing data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), sold a combined total of 89,551 vehicles in Europe in October, marking an increase from the 81,953 units sold in the same period last year. Hyundai and Kia collectively held an 8.6 percent share of the European passenger vehicle market in October, trailing behind Volkswagen Group, Stellantis, and Renault Group, as per ACEA data.

Despite the rise in sales, Hyundai Motor Group's market share in October saw a 0.4 percentage point decrease from the same month last year. The group's bestselling models in Europe included Hyundai's Tucson and Kona SUVs, along with Kia's Sportage SUV and Niro EV.

For the January-October period, Hyundai and Kia's accumulated sales in Europe reached 940,543 vehicles, a 4 percent increase from the same period last year. However, their combined market share during this period declined by 1 percentage point year-on-year to 8.8 percent.
