ILLIT Makes History with Debut Single on British Official Singles Chart

SEOUL — K-pop's newest sensation, girl group ILLIT, has marked a significant achievement by debuting their first single, "Magnetic," on the British Official Singles Chart. The song secured the No. 80 spot on the latest chart, revealed on Friday (British time), setting a new record as the first debut song by a K-pop act to enter this prestigious list. This landmark success comes just 11 days following the group's official debut under Belift Lab, a music label associated with the K-pop powerhouse Hybe, on March 25.

According to Yonhap News Agency, "Magnetic" serves as the lead single off ILLIT's inaugural EP, "Super Real Me," released simultaneously with their debut. Besides their notable entry into the British chart, the K-pop quintet is also making waves on Spotify, the leading global streaming service. Achieving an unprecedented entry into Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global chart on the day of their debut, ILLIT has since climbed to No. 15 on the Weekly Top Songs Global chart, soaring 175 positions in a short span.

The group's debut EP, "Super Real Me," has furthermore established a new record for the highest first-week sales by a debut album from a girl group, with over 380,000 copies sold. The dance anthem "Magnetic" is celebrated for its exploration of the intense allure one experiences towards a romantic interest, capturing listeners worldwide with its infectious rhythm and melody.
