Seoul: A trilateral meeting of industry ministers from South Korea, China, and Japan is set to occur next week in Seoul, marking the first such gathering in five years. This announcement was made by Seoul's industry ministry on Thursday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting will take place on Sunday and will involve South Korean Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun, Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, and Japanese Trade Minister Yoji Muto. The last trilateral meeting of industry ministers from these nations was held in December 2019 in Beijing.
During the upcoming meeting, discussions are expected to focus on a proposed trilateral free trade agreement, enhancements to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and cooperation on supply chain issues. The RCEP is recognized as one of the world's largest free trade agreements, with its 15 member nations representing approximately 30 percent of the global GDP, population, and trade volume.
Additionally, Ahn is scheduled to conduct bilateral talks with Wentao and Muto on the sidelines of the trilateral meeting, as stated by the ministry.
