Yongin:Kakao Corp. has introduced its new artificial intelligence assistant service, Kanana Space, which will be integrated into its popular messaging app, KakaoTalk, following a closed beta test in December. This announcement was made during the company's annual developers' event at its AI campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Kanana Space service is designed to understand users' verbal requests and is built on a layered AI architecture. It will offer features such as recommending workout clothes based on weather and user data, and planning schedules by analyzing message history on KakaoTalk. The service marks a transition from a graphic user interface to a language user interface, aiming for seamless user experiences.
Kakao's CEO, Chung Shin-a, emphasized the company's focus on creating AI that can comprehend the context and purpose of user interactions. The company also discussed its strategies for the foundation AI model, Kanana, which powers the new service. By applying the Multi-Teacher On-Policy Distillation technique, Kakao aims to maintain the quality of its smaller language models while ensuring effective task completion, which is now a key metric for assessing AI quality.
Kakao plans to enhance user experiences by developing AI that understands individual differences, providing a transformative impact on daily life.
