Kamala Harris Wins Democratic Nomination for President

WASHINGTON—Vice President Kamala Harris has secured the Democratic presidential nomination through a virtual voting process, officially becoming the party’s candidate for the November 5 presidential election against Republican Donald Trump.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the virtual voting concluded just a day after it began, with Harris achieving more than the necessary majority of delegate votes. This success marks Harris as the first woman of color to be nominated for the U.S. presidency by a major party. “I am so proud to confirm that Vice President Harris has earned more than a majority of votes from all convention delegates and will be the nominee of Democratic Party following the close of voting on Monday,” Harrison stated.

Harris’s nomination follows a vigorous campaign that gained momentum rapidly, positioning her at the forefront of what promises to be a tightly contested race against former President Trump. The Democratic Party will now rally behind Harris as she prepares for the upcoming electoral battle.
