KBO Postseason Game Postponed, Managers Welcome Additional Rest for Players

SEOUL: Persistent rainfall led to the postponement of Game 4 of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postseason series between the LG Twins and the Samsung Lions, originally scheduled for Friday at Jamsil Baseball Stadium. The game has been rescheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. at the same venue. According to Yonhap News Agency, both team managers expressed satisfaction with the unexpected break, seeing it as an opportunity to rest and strategize. The Lions currently lead the best-of-five series 2-1, having dominated the first two games. However, the Twins clawed back with a narrow 1-0 victory in Game 3, keeping their championship hopes alive. Twins manager Youm Kyoung-youb highlighted the advantage of the extra day, particularly for his bullpen. "With one more day off, I hope we will have more options available for Saturday," Youm stated. He mentioned the need to closely monitor the players' physical conditions to make strategic decisions that could extend their season. Key reliever Elieser Hernandez, who ha s been instrumental this postseason, is questionable for Saturday due to stiffness but could be available if the series progresses to Game 5. On the Lions' side, the additional rest day could prove beneficial for injured captain Koo Ja-wook, who sustained a left knee injury during Game 2. Despite his condition, Koo managed to rejoin the team in Seoul on Friday after seeking treatment in Japan. Lions manager Park Jin-man shared that Koo's condition is improving, though he still experiences some pain and will undergo further evaluation. The postponement also aligns starting pitchers' schedules to their regular rest periods. Denyi Reyes of the Twins and Won Tae-in of the Lions will both have had five days of rest if a Game 5 is necessary. "I am sure this extra break feels really sweet for those guys," Park remarked, acknowledging the physical demands of the postseason.
