SEOUL - Significant developments have occurred in the dynamic between North Korea and South Korea this week, involving defense strategies, diplomatic interactions, and military tests.

According to Yonhap News Agency, The week began with South Korea, the United States, and Japan announcing the launch of a North Korean missile data sharing system set to start in December. On November 13, South Korea and the U.S. revised their 'tailored deterrence strategy' against North Korea, which was criticized by the North as an attempt for a 'new war of aggression.' The United Nations Command member states pledged a united response in case of an attack on South Korea. Additionally, South Korea is contemplating partially suspending the inter-Korean military agreement if North Korea proceeds with a satellite launch.

North Korea tested newly developed solid-fuel engines for a new-type intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM), as reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on November 15. The United Nations committee adopted a resolution on North Korean human rights for the 19th consecutive year on November 16. On the same day, North Korea and Russia signed a cooperation protocol after talks on economy and science. North Korea also warned of 'visible, strategic' military actions in response to South Korea-U.S. defense discussions.
