SEOUL - Today marks several significant historical events in Korea's history, including pivotal moments in the nation's struggle for independence, political shifts, and cultural developments. Among these, in 1919, a group of 24 leaders from Korea's independence movement declared the establishment of a provisional government in Shanghai, initiating organized efforts to secure freedom from Japanese colonial rule.

According to Yonhap News Agency, In 1960, a significant political change occurred when Prime Minister Chang Myun resigned following a military coup led by General Park Chung-hee. Other notable events include the National Assembly's ratification of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1975 and the tragic death of six South Koreans in a brush fire at a U.S. Army training range near Dongducheon in 1996.
